Because\u00a0of the complexity of the electric locomotive structure and of\u00a0the big number of components, a large number of the<br \/>\nparameters must be monitored and detected the range of\u00a0variation of their imposed values. Consequently, a large\u00a0variety of monitoring and diagnosis procedures have been<br \/>\ndeveloped. In literature in the field, the many advanced\u00a0fault diagnosis methods were presented. Using the analytical\u00a0method, the analytical model of the static converter was<br \/>\ndeveloped using the Matlab Simulink. Starting from the\u00a0model of the static converter, three types of the faults were\u00a0simulated: losing inverter supply, interrupting of the<br \/>\ninverter output phase and biphasic shortcircuit at inverter\u00a0output. For all three types of mentioned faults, the waveforms\u00a0of motor speed, electromagnetic torque and electric<br \/>\ncurrents have been registered. These waveforms were\u00a0compared with those corresponding to the normal operation\u00a0regime. The impact of the type of fault on the waveforms\u00a0was pointed out.
