One of the factors that influence\u00a0lifespan is the process of charging and discharging. For\u00a0batteries is manifested in the so-called memory effect which\u00a0manifests itself by decreasing the operating voltage, even\u00a0when was loaded to its maximum capacity. The article presents\u00a0this issue but also offers a solution direct applicable\u00a0for lead-acid batteries. The principle has based on reducing\u00a0the number of charge and discharge processes in a certain\u00a0time. So the hysteresis characteristic becomes wider and the\u00a0time between switching from charge mode in the discharge<br \/>\nand vice versa is higher. Analysis of three algorithms, step-by-step set of operations, and implementation in an experimental\u00a0device is the main goals of paper. Optimization technique\u00a0represents here to maximize battery lifetime. The\u00a0device developed has a microcontroller and proves useful\u00a0with minimal changes in any situation, by replacing the existing\u00a0or interposing circuit between the power source and\u00a0battery. Designed circuit can have easily adapted to correspond\u00a0for other types of batteries.
