The conformity with the Human Resource Program

The project is connected to a very modern and internationally interesting domain, a domain which has a high research potential in Romania as wellbeing considered by the PN II such as – Border domains, with the sub domain – The modeling of the physical, chemical and biological processes.

The project supposes fundamental research activities as well as advanced high complexity research to develop knowledge by means of original technical solutions in borderline domains. It requires advanced knowledge on the probability theory and mathematical statistics, signals theory, electric and electronic circuits’ theory, the theory and performance indices of the sensors and inertial transducers, mechanics, advanced algorithms of numerical computation, software engineering, the real-time data acquisition and processing, aerospace navigation. The theoretical research will be completed with experimental validation using mainly the pre-existing laboratory technique. The project team was thus selected as to respond to the interdisciplinary character of the project: a coordinating researcher, PhD graduate, with an independent scientific activity, internationally visible (the international research courses add up to almost two years), a young researcher, PhD graduate, with experience and international exposure as well as two other researchers, two PhD students, with specializations and concerns about miniature sensors.

The main objective of the project is to raise the number of research of their professional performances by getting top scientific results, competitive both on a European level and worldwide, thus contributing to the better visibility of the Romanian research in the world. This way, the project is subsumed to the general purpose of the Human Resources Program of PN II. The project also aims at the knowledge development by means of the fundamental research, with experimentally validated results.

          The project’s innovative character

The project aims at the real solving of some open issues concerning the obtaining of some high performances miniaturized inertial navigation systems. Thus, feasible, high precision modeling algorithms will be developed, which will be implemented into software constructed to analyze both the inertial sensor and the entire equipment in which it is integrated. Furthermore, there will be developed numerical algorithms of redundant integration of the sensors, in common or unconventional locations, based on parameters estimation methods. Thus, the novelty and originality of the project are: the models precision, algorithms feasibility and the implementation in the software necessary both for the advanced research used to develop constructive new solutions for the strap-down inertial navigation systems which use miniaturized sensors, and for their optimized design.

          General objectives

Fulfilling the main objective of the project determines the definition of general objectives which can be found among the objectives of the national research plan for the period  2007-2013 in general and of the Human Resources – Projects research program for the stimulation to constitute young independent research teams, in particular:

OG1. To increase the capacity of the team involved in the solving of scientific and technical problems of high interest and modernity, by means of original research.

OG2. To increase the visibility of the Romanian researchers in Europe and worldwide by value, quality and competitiveness of the project’s expected results.

OG3. To form young specialists by involving them in valuable research and by their materially sustenance of the PhD studies.

OG4. To solve borderline domains’ issues which have a strong interdisciplinary character.
